I’m a 31 year old female from Chicago and the Chicago suburbs previously. What can I say — I’m like most Chicagoans and I love to eat and drink while doing most anything. We suffer through the cold for 8-9 months a year so most things we do involve alcohol and eating since you can do them inside. Luckily we have a gorgeous lakefront to give us joy and remind us why we live here for about 120 days in the year.

I’m not a fitness or health professional but I’ve helped people lose weight in a job 10 years ago. In that job I learned that losing weight is hard and there is no way around it. I’ve been a yo-yo dieter for years because I am not blessed with a high metabolism. I smell a fucking donut and I’ve already gained the weight without even eating it. OK, I’m kidding but it doesn’t feel far off. I just know that I have to always be aware of what I’m eating and how much I’m exercising because I gain weight really easily.

That said, I didn’t pay as much attention as I usually do over the past few years. Same old shit… Work was too much, we travelled, I was stressed, I wasn’t sleeping well, etc. etc. I subconsciously knew I was gaining but stayed in denial. Then I started buying new clothes because my dryer is an asshole and shrank my clothes (see, denial) until I finally realized, fuck I gained 30 lbs! Maybe my scale is broken????

This is my personal journey. I invite you to jump in the passenger seat and ride along with me. If you have tips, comments, questions, or feedback — shoot them my way! Just don’t be an asshole. I don’t like assholes :).
